Beijing Golfers Club is a club for friendship and social activities gathered around the game we are all addicted to!

There is a few things we all need to think about to make the golfing days even more enjoyable, one of them is actually to continuously educate our selves and fellow golfers in how to act and behave. We realize this is not an easy task but would like all of our members to help promoting the basic actions for efficient play in a way that still allow you to enjoy the day at the course, in fact even more since the frustration that comes with waiting and moaning will disappear and you can keep you mind on the game instead of what’s going on ahead or behind you.

Some fundamentals that we would like everybody to remember on the course and that from now on will be encouraged and promoted by BGC. This is essential since we are continuously getting hints and complaints from the management on the courses we are playing that the BGC events takes way to long time. Target time for a four some is 4 hours and it is actually not that hard to keep and be sure, you will enjoy it even more with less frustration!

The fundamentals in no particular order:

- Play ready golf! The player who is ready might hit even though he is closer to the hole or made a triple on the hole before. This will take away lots of unnecessary waiting, especially on tee.

- Be prepared when you are up! For example on the greens, read your line when others are putting. There is no need to wait until the entire group is done before you start preparing for your put. Make sure your glove is on and that you have chosen your club when you are up and so on.

 - In BGC events there is a mandatory call on par 3’s (regardless of local rules). This means when all players in your group are on the putting surface, back off behind the green and let the group after you hit their tee-shots before you finish your putts. You will soon discover two good things with this procedure; first it is kind of fun to see your fellow friends trying to hit the green on the par 3’s, secondly you are almost certain there will be no waiting time on the next tee!

- Let the following group play through if you can’t find a ball in the rough or in the woods. There is rule of thumb that if you can’t find your ball within 30-45 seconds after you start looking for it, you shall call the following group to play through so that you can continue to look for it. This is a good an less stressful way to look for your ball, since you will not see 4 players eagerly waiting to tee off when you are all stressed out about this possibly lost ball.

- Often 2 players share caddies. When in the situation that your ball and your playing partners ball are on opposite sides of the fairway, one of you could simply estimate what club you would need and carry a couple of clubs and go hit the ball, instead of having to wait for the caddie to run forth and back on the course.

REMEMBER THAT THE CORRECT PLACE ON THE COURSE IS JUST BEHIND THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU, NOT JUST IN FRONT OF THE GROUP BEHIND YOU!!!!

As you can see by these five simple things, there is plenty of time to save but still much to enjoy, talk and have fun  If thinking of this once or twice it will soon be a habit to play a bit quicker which will benefit yourself, your fellow players and other players at the course.
